First Look: Hot Wheels multipack exclusive Hyundai Genesis Coupe, Nissan 370Z, & Triumph TR6...

This multipack exclusive thing is a fairly new development with Hot Wheels.  Yes, there have always been 10-pack (now 9-pack) exclusives that you can only get if you buy that particular pack, but this is different.  I don't know what the count is at this point, but it appears Mattel throws darts at a list of castings not being used a particular year, and whatever casting those darts hit end up in an exclusive color and design and get thrown in 9-packs, 10-packs, and 3-packs.  Maybe these were designs slated for the basic range or a 5-pack and not used.  Who knows.

Mattel know their stuff.  Suckers like me have to have all of a particular casting, and if that casting has a wheel vari that can only be found in 9-packs, I am spending $10 to get it.  That obviously applies to unique colors as well.  It even gets worse if a multipack exclusive has a wheel vari, like was the case with the blue Porsche Cayman.  Mattel got a lot of money from me by doing that.

So it appears a new batch of multipack exclusives is starting to hit the shelves.  There are a bunch of generics, which I pay little attention to, so don't know when they were last used.  But there are others that went on the must have list.  Three are featured below.

And there are be more.  These were just found in Australia by HWC member tranqv (The SP2 is a multipack exclusive.  No word on the others, but that BMW...wow!):

All four of those will get the Lamley Treatment once I find them.  In the meantime, let's look at these three beauties:

Hot Wheels Hyundai Genesis Coupe:

My favorite of the three.  I was excited to see this casting announced in 2010, and a little disappointed with the original deco.  You get a far better sense of how well-done this casting is in plain orange.  It looks great.  But Mattel?  Why not tampo the rear taillights?  Seems like it would have been easy to do. I won't complain too much, I am just glad to have a "street" version of the Coupe.

With the blue FE:

All three versions:

Nissan 370Z:

Another casting that I have enjoyed collecting, but still waiting to see the signature tail lights printed.  The color is not its best, but I am glad Nissan is still asking that this model get the less is more approach deco-wise.

Triumph TR6

I don't have all versions of this car.  In fact, this is only the second to go into my collection.  But I could not pass it up in black.  And I am always a sucker for the 10sp wheels.
