Model of the Day: Aoshima 1971 Nissan Skyline KPGC10...
And yet another Japanese brand to infiltrate the Lamley Group.
I was completely unfamiliar with Aoshima before I saw some models brought to the Albuquerque Gathering by Jeff Koch, a definite specialist in Japanese diecast and everyone's favorite seller at JCCS. By the time he had introduced them to me, I found myself walking away with the entire Aoshima Series 6 of 12 cars.
From what I have learned, Aoshima is mainly known for their model kits, but they have done several series of 1:64 scale models. And because I am new to the brand, I haven't had any exposure to previous series. But a perusal of the web has uncovered several different Japanese cars. Series 6 is all nostalgic Nissan. Skylines, Laurels, etc.
And boy are they cool.
Over time I will feature all of them, but lets start with a favorite of many - the hakosuka. Some won't, but I am just digging the exaggerated flared wells, and any Skyline looks good dressed in white.
These are models I think many would enjoy collecting. I did find a handful on ebay:
