Model of the Day: Motor Max Pagani Zonda C12...

It is April 2014.  We acquired this model back in July 2013 at the Matchbox Convention in New Mexico, and took these shots shortly thereafter.  We intended to showcase this model then.

But then news came, over and over, and this model became the Matt Damon of the Lamley Blog.  (We will have to see who gets that reference.)  Or maybe we forgot all about it until we were putting together the displays we showcased yesterday.  One way or the other, we are finally showing off the Motor Max Pagani Zonda.

We know very little about this model.  Motor Max specializes in larger scale models, but they have a 1:64 line that is very much on par with Hot Wheels and Matchbox.  We only own one Motor Max, and it is the one we are showing now.  So we will rely on some of our knowledgable readers to dish out more info on the line, where to get it, when the Zonda casting was released, etc.

We had been watching a few of these on ebay, ready to pounce, until we found this silver one buried in an extras box in Jeff Koch's room at Albuquerque.  There appears to be two other colors, burnt orange and blue.  And if ebay is any indication, the blue is most common of the three.

While the Lamley World revolves mainly around Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Tomica, and Kyosho, we do have room for some exceptions.  Auto World is infiltrating fast, and we have a few Majorettes.  This Motor Max was an easy buy because as far as we know it is the only 1:64 version of the Zonda, and the Lamley collection needed a Zonda.

So we have it, and we like it.  And we think a few of you will to.

First Look: 2014 Hot Wheels Pagani Huayra in green...

Let's look.  Sesto Elemento in signature gunmetal gray (awesome), Alfa Romeo 8C in signature satin red (dope), Pagani Huayra in eye-popping green (nice), and that Lotus that could look good or bad but I wouldn't notice because I can't get over that horrible pinched nose.

We've already seen the Lambo and Alfa, and we will skip the Lotus (that nose!!) and have a gander at the green Pagani.

One of the cool things about supercars?  They're supercars.  They make you look.  They make you scramble for your phone and take photos of them in your rear view mirror.  That means they can be any color they damn well please.  So if a supercar wants to be bright green, it might was well.  You are going to look anyway.

So this one is green.  And I like it.  I would like it more if the casting was a little meaner.  I've said it before, but it sits a little too high, and low is what makes the Huayra a true Pagani.  Other than that, the model looks good.

But compared to the Sesto Elemento (look how low it sits) and Alfa Romeo (pretty and mean), it sits third in this batch of supercars.  Don't get me started on the Lotus...

The Customs of Ernest Li: Starion, Pagani, Lamborghini, and more...

One of our favorite customizers, and a friend who has supported Lamley since its early days, Ernest Li of Hong Kong, just sent in his latest custom projects.  The output is so prolific we thought we would give Ernest his own post.  Plus, a guy who has placed first and third in both Lamley Custom Contests, respectively, deserves a little showcase.  And something to keep in mind: These all started as Hot Wheels...

It's me again! Glad to receive a prize from Lamley group again in the 2nd Lamley Group custom Contest! Thanks for all the support!

What I have do in these days? I have made some new stuffs! Recently, I got my new Corvette C7 and Hot Wheels didn't disappoint me as the carbon fibre roof really looks awesome. You may notice that the red on my Corvette looks different. Um.........Yup! I have resprayed mine into metallic wine red with black rims. Together with the New Viper, 2013 New Muscle Mania? Which would you prefer? Tough choice right?

Not only the new C7 impressed me, the Pagani Huayra is one of the best Hot Wheels Supercar I have ever encountered. Here are four examples of what the Hot Wheels Huayra could be. The Huayra chassis number 1 was first announced with wine red and carbon fibre, then with Mille Miglia wrap, then with Goodwood Festival of Speed wrap, and then with gold wrap now. Er....how many wrap would there be on this Huayra? I have made three of them now and the Mille Miglia version is still on the way to my garage. Something more from Italy, from Lamborghini. If you are a Lamborghini fan, could you recognize what I am showing here? 25th, 30th, 40th, 50th are what I have completed in these days.

What's more? Maybe supercar is too mainstream right? Um....Vw Kool Kombi van okay? I turned it into a van and mine is just too...................(There are tons of people here made the same thing and hundred times better than mine)

Last thing I would like to show you is the Mitsubishi Starion. I was inspired by blistercards.blogspot.com and I have copied what was shown there. It works! (Of course, blistercards' looks better!)
