So is this really still the Hot Wheels Special Edition Camaro when it lost its Hot Wheels Special Edition deco?
I guess so, but honestly I don't care either way. This could have been the ZL1, or one of a plethora of new Camaro castings, but they chose to use the latest. Well, no they didn't, as the COPO already came out this year. Wow, that is a lot of Camaros.
But there might as well be a lot of Camaros, because with what has to be a contractual obligation to have at least two Camaros and two Mustangs in each year's Super TH lineup, you need to have a lot to choose from. I'm not complaining, just observing.
We already know of two Mustang Supers coming, and with Mustang turning 50, there might be more. There has to be another Camaro later in the year, though, as we tragically only know of one.
And, by the way, you Chevy and Ford fans who didn't know what to do last year with those two Toyotas in the Super TH lineup, fearing that the earth had clearly come free of its axis. I mean, shouldn't it be all Chevy and Ford with the occasional Mopar sprinkled in? Apparently, yes. Look at 2014 so far:

- CHEVY Camaro Special Edition
- '07 FORD Mustang
- '71 FORD Mustang Boss
- CHEVY Bel Air Gasser
All is right with the world, eh? Now we think that as the news of more Supers gets out, we may see a JDM or import or two (or three!) in that lineup, so we aren't ready to complain just yet. Plus, with Datsun trucks and Civic EF's and Alfas and Astons and everything else coming as new models, we have no right to complain about anything else.
Back to the Camaro. Let's show off the basic version and the Super. I like them both. A friend described the trap5 wheels on the basic version as a SEMA reject, and I get that (although the trap5's do look more like the rims used on the real car). For some reason they work on this mini version. I have no idea why, but it works. In fact, just going by pics, the basic version actually is more striking in photos than the Super. I get using the black real riders, but the model actually comes off a bit bland. I know most folks will disagree, but I like the basic better. That being said, of the three Supers released so far, I like the Opala casting more, but consider this the best of the three. (That will change, however. Early images of the next three Supers suggest I will like them more than the first three, and we all know the Gasser is already an early frontrunner among collectors for Best Super of 2014.)
So here they are. The basic Special Edition Camaro (or not) with its Super counterpart. Neat.
