First Look: Hot Wheels '69 Ford Torino Talladega...
Well, there is a frenzy going on as collectors raid Toys R Us stores here in the US in search of the new exclusives and the '67 Camaro Super Treasure Hunt. The internet is also alive with collectors looking at the first 2014 Super to leak, and all the opinions that come with it.
We will let those discussions happen elsewhere, and continue our run through Hot Wheels Batch N. Next week will be a little Matchbox heavy, but there are still plenty of Hot Wheels to show.
Today we take a gander at one of those models that surprise. Surprise because sometimes models that go unnoticed most of the time suddenly appear in a deco that makes them impossible to ignore. I have never been a huge fan of the Torino Talladega casting. Its low stance is almost too low, making the car look a little too square.
But this 2013 version is the second time the double-T has demanded my attention. (Actually the third. That 2010 Treasure Hunt is a classic.) The 2012 and this new 2013 version are forcing me to add them to the collection. They just look so good. The 2012 uses the power of black to reel me in, but it is the textured gold of the 2013 that really is interesting. I hope the photos capture some of it, but this is a model to appreciate in hand.
