First Look: Hot Wheels Custom Cadillac Fleetwood...
The curiosity factor kicked into high gear on this one. I don't have any particular fondness for Cadillacs before the late 1960's, so an old Cadillac Fleetwood is probably something I leave on the pegs.
Unless of course it looks like this one.
It looks like a cross between a Michael Keaton/Jack Nicholson era Batmobile idea and some sort of Georges Méliès rocket ship. I have no idea if it is based on anything, so if someone knows they can fill us in.
Now I could give a much better breakdown of the A Trip to the Moon than I can the influences and history of the Fleetwood, so I will talk about the model. In black, I really like it. Once it appears in other colors, I will have to see, but I don't know if this model works in anything but black. I am sure the boys in El Segundo will help us find out. Grey? Zamac?
The model is light. The base and fenders are all plastic. Only the middle torso of the Caddie is metal. I don't know if that will bother collectors or not. I guess we can monitor the various forums to find out. But only if you want to...
