Yes, Aston Martins look the same. And yes, that is a good thing. If they are already the epitome of good looks, why mix it up?
And I am glad Mattel has a good relationship with Aston. The Vantage and DBS from HW, and the DBS Volante from Matchbox look fantastic. And with that in mind, I was super-excited to see the One-77 when it came out last year. Here HW was doing one of the most exclusive cars on the planet. The "only-77-produced" Aston. I could not wait.
Then it came out, and if I spoke honestly, I was a bit disappointed. The casting does not have the monster stance of the real thing. It stands too high, and the casting is too small. The right lines appear to be there, but it is just a little off. The casting improved with the white and red versions this year, but still the it pales in comparison to the DBS.
This new version is ok, but I would like to see a different color with these wheels. Flat grey perhaps? And how about the very Aston-appropriate 10sp wheels? I figure we will see them at some point.
Maybe the casting will grow on me in the right color. This one is not that model.
